cheryl the potter

Curious about ceramics and pottery as a child and as an adult, any museum visit always left Cheryl wondering what it must be like to create a vessel with your own two hands.

Originally from Philadelphia, PA, she migrated to Austin, TX in  2005. With no formal education in fine arts, she decided to pursue the craft by attending local workshops and instruction under the tutelage of some of the most impressive potters in Texas. She currently practices her skills on the wheel at a local pottery studio in Austin, working with a variety of clay bodies fired to cone 10 (stoneware).

While she enjoys creating functional pieces like bowls and mugs, she also finds enjoyment in developing pieces that step outside of function and convention. Most of the work featured in her portfolio is food-safe  unless otherwise indicated. Custom requests are welcomed.

Cheryl is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, working professionally as a Communication and Marketing executive. In addition to pottery and her career, her interests and activities include arts outreach program development, Am/Staff Pit Bull terrier advocacy, sports and the "science" of people, faith and interpersonal connectedness.  Sibbotery is a manifestation of her creative pursuits and spiritual inspiration.
